Meet Holger & Karin Rudolph
In Telkwa, Canada, some of the finest sausages and meats are crafted, thanks to the expertise and passion of Holger Rudolph, a skilled sausage maker. Holger, who holds a master’s degree in sausage making from Germany—the world’s sausage capital—has built a reputation for producing high-quality products that are well-known throughout northern BC.
Holger and his wife, Karin, moved to Telkwa in 2007, bringing with them years of experience in farming and the meat industry. Holger grew up on a pig farm and pursued education in meat cutting, sausage making, and business after high school. Upon completing his studies, he returned to his family farm and launched his first butcher and sausage-making business.
In the early 2000s, economic challenges in Germany and changes in the local market prompted Holger and Karin to rethink their future. They made the bold decision to move to Canada, eventually settling in Telkwa because of its appealing small-town environment. Holger appreciates the peaceful, slow-paced life in Telkwa, far removed from the noise of a big city. More than anything, the couple values the sense of community in Telkwa, where business is personal and familiar faces are common. “When customers visit the store, you already know them,” Holger says. His business initially thrived at local farmers’ markets, and its success led to the establishment of his own factory.
Holger and Karin enjoy the rewards of working for themselves, despite the challenges. They take great pride in the growth of their business and the consistent quality they ensure in every sausage they produce.
